Christmas story (and contest!)

by on Dec.10, 2011, under Author news

This month, the historical romance authors of Carina Press are taking turns writing a Christmas regency–and it’s also a contest with prizes.

Every other day from now until Christmas, an author will add a new installment to a holiday serial at Romancing the Past, the Carina Press historical authors’ blog. The story also includes the title of a Christmas carol hidden in each installment. Readers are encouraged to leave comments, and the reader who identifies the most carol mentions will win a prize bundle featuring seven Carina historicals.

I’m responsible for the fourth installment. It goes up today, December 10. Click here to jump to Romancing the Past.

Star crossed love

by on Nov.19, 2011, under Author news

Two pieces of news to share.

First, I have a projected release date now for my second regency, Ruined by Rumor, the marriage of convenience story Carina Press plans to publish. It should go on sale May 21, 2012.

Second, I’m blogging today at Romancing the Past about a case of star crossed love in the regency, featuring William Makepeace Thackeray’s ruthlessly manipulative grandmother.

Carina to publish my second regency

by on Sep.12, 2011, under Author news

Now that the deal is finalized, I’m thrilled to announce that Harlequin’s digital imprint, Carina Press, will be releasing my second regency in May of 2012.  The book title may change, but expect a love triangle/marriage of convenience story in which a shy, serious politician winds up married to the vivacious beauty he’s been secretly in love with for years, even though they both know she loves another man.

You can read an excerpt here.

Regency pre-order

by on Sep.04, 2011, under Author news

A Tryst With Trouble is now available for pre-order at Amazon, at least in paperback and audiobook formats.  The widget to the right will take you directly to Amazon, and I’ve also made the book title a hyperlink.

It’s eligible for Amazon Prime!  Now, is it possible to hypnotize readers through a blog post?  “You feel an overpowering urge to buy my book…”

Cover art!

by on Jul.11, 2011, under Author news

Dorchester’s wonderful Production and Art Supervisor just sent me a copy of the cover art image for A TRYST WITH TROUBLE.  Isn’t it gorgeous?  That’s the heroine, Lady Barbara Jeffords.  As you can see, she has a great sense of style.

New: Ruined by Rumor

by on Jun.23, 2011, under Author news

I just received an offer from a publisher for my next regency-set romance, Ruined by Rumor.

The Earl of Ayersley has a problem:  he’s so head-over-heels for beautiful Roxana Langley, he can barely string two words together in her presence.  Make that two problems, because Roxana is already engaged to a dashing cavalry officer, a war hero who oozes excitement and savoir faire.  Having waited five years for Major George Wyatt to return from fighting the French, Roxana has such stars in her eyes she can’t see any man but him. But when George inexplicably jilts Roxana, she turns to the nearest shoulder to cry on, plunging herself into scandal with the least likely man imaginable:  the dutiful, tongue-tied Lord Ayersley. The earl’s offer of marriage may save her from ruin, but are they only trading one disaster for another when they both know Roxana loves another man?

I’ll have more details in coming weeks, but for now, you can read a passage from the story under the “Excerpts” link.

A Tryst With Trouble

by on Feb.21, 2011, under Author news

My debut regency, A Tryst With Trouble, is slated for release by Dorchester publishing in January, 2012.

Throw the wrong man and woman together, and even basic civility may be too much to ask…

Dogged for years by painful gossip about his father’s homosexuality, the Marquess of Beningbrough—Ben, to his friends—has protected himself by becoming the ultimate man’s man.  Passed over by suitor after suitor in favor of her pretty but vapid younger sister, clever, forthright Lady Barbara Jeffords has reached the disappointing conclusion most men are shallow, boorish clods.  When a philandering footman turns up dead, the two square off:  he’s sure she’s determined to pin the crime on his hapless young cousin, while she thinks he means to shift the blame to her sister.  To find the real killer, Ben and Barbara must declare a truce that threatens to expose both their buried insecurities and their growing desire for each other.

Read a passage from the story under the “Excerpts” link.
